What a Crown actually gives you

A country Crown is one clearly labeled placement in the Crown card beside a country result. The country card publishes and records the following. Nothing else is promised, and nothing on this list is optional at our discretion once your Crown is live.

City Crowns are separate placements in the selected country’s Cities panel. A city row shows the sponsor name, destination host, and sponsor link; it does not show the country card’s optional short line. Cities do not have separate votes or rankings. Open a country from the map, then choose Cities to see its city placements and current minimums.

What it looks like beside a country

This is the same card component the country panel renders, filled with example values, so it cannot drift from the real placement.

What a Crown holder gets

Three mechanisms, all live in the product today, are the proof behind the placement: a measured redirect, a private report over what it measured, and a share card the takeover itself mints.

Every visit to your business travels one first-party path: /go/<your claim>. The visitor sees your verified host in plain text before clicking, the link carries rel="sponsored", and the redirect answers only while your tenure actually holds — a takeover, suspension, or the round’s end stops it the same moment it stops the card. The report counts recorded requests through your Crown’s link; it does not verify that the destination page loaded. Daily unique counts use a privacy-preserving network identifier, so shared networks can be grouped together. Recording failures do not block the redirect and can leave clicks uncounted.

Every confirmed Crown has a private report page behind an unguessable link issued to its holder at confirmation — no account, no login. It reports exactly what is measured today: recorded outbound clicks through /go, estimated daily uniques, days holding, and takeover status. Nothing else is measured, so nothing else is reported.

This is not a mockup: it is the live Open Graph card this site serves at /opengraph-image this second — the preview every shared CrownTheMap link unfurls into on social platforms and in chat apps. A confirmed takeover additionally mints its own shareable card at a first-party /s/ link, naming your business as the Crown holder.

What we do not sell

Money buys visibility beside the result. It never buys the result. One paid placement exists — the Sponsored Crown — and it is result-neutral by construction:

That restraint is the product. A Crown is worth holding precisely because the map it stands beside cannot be bought.

The Founding Sponsor mark

The first Crown ever fulfilled for a country during the Founding Round (Aug 29 – Sep 12, 2026) marks its sponsor as that country’s Founding Sponsor. The mark appears on the country’s Crown card for as long as that founding claim holds the Crown, and it stays in the round’s record and the sponsor’s private report permanently — a later takeover names the new holder, but never inherits the mark.

There are at most 50 country marks, one per country, and they can only be earned while the Founding Round runs. Being first is the only way to get one: no later payment, however large, creates a second. Like everything sold here the mark is purely presentational — it never adds a vote, moves a rank, or changes map color.

Where this round stands right now

The round has ended, so no Crown can be bought. Every Crown from this round ended with it.

Sponsor review is not accepting applications right now. Review never takes payment and never reserves a Crown.

Price and the takeover minimum

Country Crowns start at €5. In the Cities panel, capital Crowns start at €5 and other city Crowns at €2. These are opening minimums, not current takeover quotes; each placement displays its own next minimum. The same paid amount plus €1 takeover rule applies.

A first country Crown costs at least €5, and the buyer chooses the exact amount at checkout: any whole-euro amount up to €500. The amount paid becomes that country’s defence — a takeover must pay at least the holder’s amount plus €1. Pay €5 and the next minimum is €6; pay €50 and dethroning you starts at €51. Paying above the minimum buys nothing else — no extra placement, feature, or duration. VAT is 0 under the Austrian small-business exemption, so the chosen amount is the total the buyer pays and checkout adds no tax line.

A Crown is not exclusive for the rest of the round. Another eligible sponsor who pays at least the current minimum takes it, and the earlier claim is superseded at that moment without an automatic takeover refund or compensation. Statutory consumer rights remain unaffected. A Crown ends when the round ends; nothing renews.

Business checkout is offered to verified buyers established in Austria, or in another enabled EU member state with a VAT ID an operator has marked valid. Reviewed EU individuals can buy an available Crown without company or VAT details. Location and tax eligibility are checked before payment; approval alone does not reserve a Crown or take payment. United Kingdom and other non-EU buyers are outside the current buyer scope.

Straight answers

The “Visit sponsor” link is a paid link and is labelled as one in the markup. That label is the honest description of what you are buying: a clearly disclosed placement and a measurable referral path, not a search or ranking outcome. We make no claim about search engines, AI assistants, backlink value, audience size, or traffic volume, because nothing in this product controls any of them.
